Goa Calling at Goa Carnival Festival 2013

It has been so long now Mumbai features 3 colorful days of endless fun & merriments, exquisite dance & music and mesmeric festivity during Goa Carnival festival. One of the much awaited festivals in Goa, this remarkable fest lies in February month and is celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm by locals and the travelers alike.

This year, the festival falls on 9th February and will last till 12th February. It is the time when each corner of the state becomes alive and people of all ages come on street to become part of this celebration. One can notice people in enthusiastic mood, enjoying every moment of lively processions, floats and graceful dance & music events this fest has under jubilation. History of Goa Carnival dates back to around 500 years. It was inaugurated at time of ancient Rome and Greece. The Portuguese brought in the carnival in India (Goa) when they laid down their communities here. The word Carnival belongs to the Latin language, which literally means “to take away meat”. That’s why people abstain from meat during this festival. However, the visitors enjoy parties and other celebrations with inclusion of mouthwatering Goan cuisines and unlimited pleasures.
